Muslims live in every country in the world and they are not all alike. some cultures do arranged marriage (but there has to be consent from both partners), some do not

From a religious standpoint, no;
from a personal, familial, or community standpoint, possibly.

BTW, what did it serve to put the main point of your question in the "detail"? Did you think it would get you more answers by hiding something like that? On the contrary, it probably sent a few people away; there are those who don't want to bother with partial questions, because most of them are inane or useless. Yours, at least, has some merit to it, which is the only reason I bothered to answer it. You have plenty of space available; you could have simply asked, "Are Muslims forced into arranged-from-birth marriages?" That wasn't so hard, was it?

ewww, no way.

Funny thing though is my Muslim friend said they wished their parents could help them find a spouse cuz they're having a hard time lol!

I wouldn't vehemently oppose arranged marriage on the basis of the manner in which the spouse was selected. However, coersion in any matter like that would just be wrong and totally unIslamic. In the end consent is crucial.

Peace.

As a true Muslim? No. The Quran gives people (women included) the right to chose their husband/wife. Its unfortunate that some cultures are twisting Islam and using it to take away certain rights given to women by Allah through Mohammed.

NOOOOO. In the Indian subcontinent, arranged marrages are comman for Muslims. But if the man does not like the woman or vice versa, parents accept that. But dating is gaining prominence in Indian culture.

No.

Islam spreads from Western Africa to China so anything is possible as a custom.

But according to the Religion -- NO.

Just type in the search engine, your question about this. You should find forums and other links to give you an answer.

It's not the religion that makes the person, it's just the person who makes the decisions.
