He went down to Arizona to visit a friend, and came back with this funny little paper-mache-ish skeleton figurine - it's wearing a little dress and hat, so it could almost be cute, but the face is definitely a skeleton. (My birthday is on Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, and apparently they're really popular for that.) I really don't like it. No actually, I pretty much hate it. Who seriously wants a skeleton figurine in their room?!?! But I love my dad so much, and I know he thought it was really cool, since my birthday is on Dia de los Muertos and all that. I can't bring myself to throw it away, but...yuck. What should I do?

Just put it behind something that covers it but is easy to find when your dad asks to see it. My 5 years old birthday is also Nov. 2 and I have to change party dates and decorations because our family is Mexican and it is a big deal for them to be at the cemetery and but skulls and skeletons. They gave a skeleton puppet to her for her birthday and she didn't like it so I put it behind the t.v. and when they asked where it was I acted surprised that it had fallen behind the t.v.

Leave it in your room but turn it around- that way you won't see the skeleton face. Or put it some where in the closet.
Hope I helped.

For now, leave it out because it's nearing Halloween and 'the day of the dead' is similar to that ...but afterwards, put it away safely, and then bring it out for two days before your birthday and that day, and then put it away again. You don't have to 'like it' as long as you 'honor it and your dad for getting it for you' on the two 'good holidays' to 'show it off' ... that way you won't 'seem weird' and you won't have to 'bear' looking at it year round.
