I would like to see a boxing movie that is all pumped up like a Rocky movie... only to have a long drawn out klinging on each other match that has a cheap decision in the end, lol.

The boxing scenes in the Rocky movies are a bit exaggerated, Apollo Creed and Rocky in the first match, would never happen in real life boxinf, the ref would stop the bouts much earlier giving Creed a win by TKO. THe same with the other matches. The tremendous boxing movies sold all the Rocky movies. If Drago was a true fighter, he would have actually killed all his oponnents.

As the wife of an ex boxer, I can say that the rocky movies are all contrived. Think how many takes they had to make to get it right. Real boxing, as you put it , is an art, ok, many will disagree with this but when you get a pair of fighters in the ring that are matched equally the quality and skill can be unbelievable to those in the know.

I know what you are saying. The boxing films are tweaked for dramatic impact. Have you ever seen so many killer punches land in a round without someone going down? I didn't think so. The referee would have stepped in a few times during the first two Rocky movies. I mean, Rocky couldn't even see, he was defenseless (or would have been in real life), yet kept going.

That why the phrase "suspension of disbelief" was created for movies. You can't think too much.

After watching the Rocky movies I don't find boxing dull, as the Rocky movies are not an accurate reflection or portrayal of what Boxing is, or at least the artistry side of it. Watching footage of Sugar Ray Robinson, Roy Jones or Sugar Ray Leonard is.

I hate to say it, but for the most part boxing ha become s a little dull. Its extremely technical but some of the greatest fighters, (e.g. Lenox Lewis), spend a whole match throwing jabs. Iron Mike Tyson was an incredible dissappointment and waste of talent but was by far one of the most exciting athletes in sports history.

I still watch boxing, but it doesnt compare to MMA fights. On your basic UFC card, 75% of the fights are likely to be exciting and action packed. After watching MMA, sometimes its hard to go back to boxing. The thing about boxing that will always give it intrigue is its rich history. Great boxers usually end up being the pride of their respective countries and standing for something bigger than themselves or their paychecks.

If I had the choice to watch Rocky I,II,III,IV...IL however many there are, or all-time greats going at it on ESPN Classic. I would choose the later with out a thought. So, I don't know what you're talking about bro!

Rocky is to boxing, what King Kong is to going to the zoo.
