Okay I'm going to spay my dog I know its a little late, but better late then never, right? She is 1 1/2 years old and she has been in one heat cycle. I really need her spayed but what is the average price of the procedure? I've called this one hospital and they wanted $310, that just seems like way to much. I imagined it would be like $250! If $300 is the right price, does anyone know where I could get it done cheap? Thank you very much!

Average price is $150.00. It can range from $75 up to $300. Every vet charges a different fee. If money is a concern, either you can ask your vet if you can make payment arrangements or you can contact your local shelter. They know of low cost spay/neuter programs.

Thank you for being responsible! :)

Call shelters and Humane Societies in your area. There are many that operate a low cost spay/neuter clinic.
That is not a out-of-the-ballpark quote. You can maybe shave some off that price if you do not get the pre-aneshtetic bloodwork, any maybe some other extras.
If your dog is not a patient at the vet you go to, you may pay more. If she does not have current vaccines, you will pay more also.

The price depends on where you live. We base it on the size of the dog. The larger the dog, the more expensive. An average size dog is $110.00 plus $15.00 extra if she is in heat.
Since there are so many unwanted dogs in this country, and all over the world, this may be the best money you ever spend. It will be much cheaper than having a bunch of unwanted and unadoptable puppies to contend with. I sincerely hope you opt to do this, regardless of the cost.

It is a good idea to spay. Then she is at a less rick for cancer. Usually the price is do to the weight of the dog. What kind of dog is it? Does she have all her shots? Some vets wouldnt spay until she has all shots. Try looking in your area for a discount spay and neuter program. We have what is called SpayToday.

That is about the right price plus they may have already included the drugs and over-night stay. Try a shelter to see if they have free spaying. Also sometimes there is a bus that goes around communities for free spay/nueter. Try reading your local community paper or asking a local vet.

.Cheap is not really the word you want to use when looking for someone to perform surgery on your dog. Does she not have a regular vet? If $300 is the running price in your area then be prepared to pay, just one of the duties of being a responsible dog owner. Just call around to numerous places...thats my bet. The price can actually depend on the breed of dog as well.

$310.00, even $250.00 seems like a lot to me and I don't live in the boonies. None of my females weighed over 20lbs. though and this last pup was $125.00. They go in in the a.m. and are released late p.m. with pain meds and the $125.00 includes a follow up visit and stitch removal. Check around at the local shelters and ask for referrals, my regular vet does free/cheap volunteer spaying/neutering at a clinic. Good luck.

I don't know where you are, but that's an exhorbitant amount to pay for a spay, even if you have a huge dog. Check your area for spay and neuter clinics, and also check with your county's animal shelter and see of they offer discount spay/neuters. (In my county I can get a voucher that costs just $56.00 to spay a dog, and $46.00 to spay a cat!).
Good luck to you....spaying is truly the best thing you can do for your dog.

i think you can probably find it a little cheaper but the problems a non spayed dog can incur cost wise in the future will cost you a lot more and can be fatal- you took on the responsibilty of being a pet owner -now be one and get her spayed

most vets will charge more if the dog is post puberty(over 6 months of age) . The organs are larger so more bleeding is likely and the surgery will take longer. You are probably looking at $200 at most places
