how do you edit a picture to make everything black and white, but leave one thing still colored? i have a mac with iphoto if that makes any difference

This is done by cuting an object out of a picture, convertingthe picture to black and white and then reinserting the item.
It's a tricky thing to do, and you should have some ral good photo editing software to use.

in photoshop i can be done by using the history brush to under the grayscale. As far as i know you cant do it in iPhoto. try getting a programme called gimp. u might be able to find a mac version

You have two of the same photo at the same size and resolution. On one, in "mode" convert it to "greyscale". Now go into the color one and cut it out in detail, in other words don't just use a box to cut it out. Then drag it into postion over the greyscale one and voila.
