2001 Saab 9-5, V-6 Turbo with 166,860 miles

Alternator went bad, had to jump it a few times then water pump started leaking so I parked it for a few weeks. Had the alternator, water pump and timing belt replaced. I also replaced the battery and life was good... well sorta...

The car, will drive along just purring away when all of a sudden the warning light (red triangle) comes on along with the brake light, the ABS light and the TCS off light and the speedo quits working. All other gauges are within norm. I can drive for a while, might be 5 minutes or 4 hours and then lights all go off and and the speedo starts working again... all by themselves.

I'm guessing some sort of limp home mode...

Hot or cold, overnight or all day out and about, this seems to be a mood thing.

There are no OBDII fault codes.

Any help? Idea?

First check the engine ground straps located at the rear of the block towards the throttle-body. These are the grounds for the ECM and other components. You may also have an issue with the ABS/TRACTION control module. This is the unit near the L/S strut tower with 6 brake lines coming out. These units are prone to failure at this mileage and exhibit the exact conditions that you have stated. Be prepared though, this unit retails over $2000.00 Have someone scan the ABS module for history codes. When this car goes into limp home mode it is hardly driveable at all. I believe there are places that rebuild these units if this ends up being the culprit. One quick check...along the center of the firewall there is a main connector that is covered by a 7 inch rectangular cover. Pulling up on this cover reveals a 42 pin connector. Pull back on the red retainer until the connector splits. Inspect both sides of the connector for possible corrosion or backed out terminals.

Good Luck

PS... Your water pump is located just above the crank pulley behind the timing belt cover. There are no electronics that can possibly get wet if the unit were to fail.

You're right...that is a "weird blinky light problem"

First...Check your battery connections. (80%)

Second...In the power distribution box under the hood are several relays, make sure they are in tight and not really hot after diving for a while. If you find one that's really hot? replace it. (15%)

Third.....push and jiggle ALL the fuses under the dash. (5%)

ADDED:
Ask this in "Maintenence and Repairs" section.
There are some other pretty smart people that just kind of hang out there.....

the three pink lights is a hardware undertaking. that's a demonstration that quickly that's going to completely stay with the three pink lights. i've got self belief in case you have offered your 360 in the final 3 years, that's below guarantee. in any different case, there will be a value of someplace contained domestically of $one hundred. Microsoft will replace your console or deliver you a refurbished unit. reliable success
