I think Gordon will end his career with victories in the mid 90s and 6 or 7 championships. He has said he will not be a driver who hangs on after his prime. Once he loses that edge that all drivers need to become competitive then he will step away from racing. Tony wont even come close. He is older then Gordon and doesnt even have near the wins. He will probably race a little longer, but next year will be a rebuilding year since gibbs went to toyotas. Tony will probably end his career with 40 or 50 wins. Johnson wont pass Gordon, but he will have 60-70 wins during his career. Remember Jeff won 12 races in one year...that will never happen again.

I think that by the end of next year or the year after that he will definitely have soul possession of third place on the all time wins list. I think that five races in two or three years is not unacceptale and defintely something that you can accomplish, as I dont think that he is done winning this year as he may win 7 races this year, give or take a few. I dont think Stewart will catch Gordon as he has talked about retiring numerous times, but I think that he is very aggressive and is close to Gordon's age, and didnt start in the sport as young as Gordon did. Gordon I think will eventually have the second place on the all time wins list as Richard Petty's 200 wins is untouchable. I think that he only has maybe 5 years left, maybe more, as he said he wasnt really interested in racing past age 40 which would be in 4 more years, but I think he will go past then, as long as he is competitve and winning races. I think that some of the younger drivers like around Kyle Busch's age might have a shot but with the amoung of competition that the teams have today I think that it would take alot of talent and luck, and I just dont see that happening ever again.

To whatican: You're obviously not too bright. Under the old system, Jeff would have his sixth championship. Your opinion of his driving skill CANNOT CHANGE THE FACTS!!! But to answer the question....I'm sure Jeff is very upset at the new points system. But you know what? I'm pretty sure he can deal with it. As a Gordon fan, I'm not happy that he's most likely not going to win the cup this year. But in the big picture, I can't say that Johnson is undeserving. 10 wins and 4 wins in a row in and of itself would deserve a title. He performed in exactly the manner in which the Chase format was set up for. It boils down to the fact that we CANNOT compare the greatest drivers by stats such as championships. Once you change the scoring systems, that comparison is invalid.

I think Gordin is a great driver they are in the COT next year, I thnk he'll pass Yarborough's record by the middle of next year, as far as Johnson, or Stewart passing him for the record, not a chance I'm a big Johnson fan but that is a lot of races to win,

Gordon will be the greatest. People will say "if Dale were still alive", but the bottom line is he's not. I hope Gordon wins 8 championships. I doubt he gets even close to 200 race wins as they ran allot more races a year back then.
As for Tony or Johnson only time will tell. I like them both too.

You are right, Love him or hate him Jeff Gordan will be in the Record books, with the possiablity of breaking even more in his career totally possiable. I wouldnt be suprised to see him catch and pass soem of those records with in the Next year easily.
I hate to say this, But I do see Stewart being up there maybe not passing Gordan but being very close.
As far as the future young guns, thats tough, most likely someone not even racing yet. But If I have to choose with current drivers I would go with Kahn and even K. Bush. Kahn has always been up there in the fight and Kyle is doing killer for being such a young driver.

Jeff Gordon will pass all the above mentioned records
by the end of 2008; I also expect him to win this years
Chase and make his 5th/ Nascar Championship.
As long as Jeff is an active driver; I don't expect Johnson
or Stewart to surpass him in winds-records;

P. S.; For those who dislike Jeff Gordon; that is your choice and that is you loss;;

I think he'll probably end up second on the alltime list..I doubt he will drive another 5-10 yrs..He will probably have a couple more children then retire and enjoy his family, and probably end up being a commentator on a race show.. Jimmie Johnson is younger than Jeff he'll probably hit the top 10 list as well..

I think Jeff will pass DW in the 09 season. I really don't see him racing past the 2010 season, but then again, what do I know?
I agree, whether you love him or hate him, the man can drive. I stand by my statement: It may have been his daddy's money that got him to NASCAR, but it's his talent keeps him there.
