Real artists have detailed vision of what they wont to put on paper and when it does not turn out that way They are disappointed. They wont what they have in their head to come out as they see it we didn't see it that way so we think it is great. But they know they didn't live up to there on expectation.

Anybody who draws and cares deeply about art will understand. There are many reasons, I'll state a few reoccurring ones.
1. Comparing
Many artists compare their own work with others, thinking that they would never be able to reach such level.
Because of their sensitivity, they could take this differently. It could motivate them to do better, which is
actually rare or lower their self-esteem.
2. They see the mistakes
Sometimes, there are actual mistakes, they've been trained to acknowledge those errors. You may not see
it unless you've been trained and know how a body should be drawn, how the colours should mix etc...
During those times, trust the artist.
3. Fake errors
This one is more complicated, they want their art to look amazing and beyond their level, even if they don't
know how. They become a lot harder on themselves when it's just a matter of time.
Don't blame them. Also, just because others say it's great doesn't mean it's great in reality. It depends to the eye.

Usually an artist works for his own personal reasons and expresses his own emotions. For artists, opinions of others are not important because art is a personal expression. If he is not satisfied with his work, then he is not satisfied even if others think it's brilliant. The only thing that matters in art is the artist's fulfillment towards his work. Van Gogh never waver even if nobody appreciated him before. An artist will only pursue what he wants even if everybody thinks otherwise. It's a never ending struggle to achive personal happiness.

I have this problem. *laughs* I guess it's because when I'm finished with something there are always those; "Man, I could've done better with this," and "If I would have done that instead of this it would've been so much better!" moments. I almost never like anything right after I'm done drawing it, however, I usually end up liking it later. =P I'm glad though because it always drives me to work a little bit harder each time and not be so lazy. *laughs* It drives me to find new techniques and new ways of looking at things. It just drives me to be better! Plus, (I don't know if this is the same for everyone else or what,) but it doesn't mean as much to me if someone who doesn't know how to draw at all thinks that something is great. (Like your mom. =P ) All they know is that it's better then they could do so they're impressed by "your magical talent" LOL. It means a lot more if someone who knows how to draw as well praises it because they have more of an idea of what went into it.

Firstly because they can see every flaw and every mistake they made where someone else just sees the whole piece of art and usually doesn't notice a flaw or recognize it for what it is. Like if you are painting a face and you know the nose is a little big but nobody else does. Secondly they are too familiar with it and so it is hard to see how it is special. To them it is a well worn pair of shoes...to others it is a hand made pair of rare leather.

Because that is why they paint. There is always better or else why bother?
To easy an answer? It is the only one. But frankly I am happy with stuff I paint and have painted...but it only inspires me to do better. It is the idea behind the painting or a technique that turned out pretty sweet that I am happy about.

This sound like:Why are man never happy with one woman? Because each woman is different and deserve to be discovered. An artist universe is like a diamante ,is more expensive if it have more faces.

They are always doubting thier artwork because they look at others and they think, "you're painting is magnificant, and mine looks horrible,". And what they're trying to do is make their atwork like someone elses. So they think they should make sort of a copy. They need to realize that their artwork is just as good, if not better than anyone elses. They need to motivate there selves!!!

I think it is a broad generalization. I am happy with most of my work, thought it does not stop me from exploring. I would not show work that I would not be happy with. I work out all the flaws that I see in the work make the composition and color relationships as strong as possible. and when I am done than I am done.
