I can't wait to worship such a 'loving" god.

Why does anyone think this makes sense?

I don't think it makes sense....

But, then again, I'm not a Christian so that PARTICULAR set of teachings is not "special" to me.

If you're interested..... Aphrodite LOVES Temptressess and you can always worship HER if you want to...

Of course, Eris doesn't care if you worship her or not, so feel free to worship her (or not) as well......

Edit ---- Greg T.... I'm not feeling the love in this quote: "You are a stupid retard. God is love, God is not hate. Atheists are filled with hatred. You are obviously filled with hatred. I will pray for you." Calling someone a 'stupid retard' just doesn't seem all that LOVING to me (although it DOES prove her point) Are you implying that YOU are an atheist because you certainly seem full of hatred for someone who obviously does NOT share your views?

There is the saying, Love what God loves and hate what God hates. As for your question, if people use His Word to spread hate and all, then they haven't really understood God like they thought they did. They didn't really trust in God or believe what He told them to do. Of course, I'm not talking about sharing/spreading the truth which is often offensive to many. The Scriptures are John 8:32 and Galatians 4:16: "Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." "Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?" Besides sharing the truth that is often what people don't "want" to hear, if they kill or hate, are prejudiced or don't show love to even their enemies, they haven't lived up to what they have already attained or understood God and His Word. But God is love. He hates sin, sin is an abomination and separates people from Him. But He wants everyone to be with Him in perfect paradise (Heaven) for all eternity. God is love but He is other things too. God is love, all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere at the same time, has perfect justice, is jealous, is the Creator/Maker of all, the Saviour of all mankind (as long as they do their part to receive the free gift of salvation). It should only be the truth that offends (because of people not wanting to hear the truth but rather believe in deception/lie or the like) and not the person who claims they are from God willingly hating without understanding and love for the person they were sent to try to plant a seed in. As Jesus said, "Go and sin no more."

Not if they're trying to claim it's a Loving God. That whole idea is contradictory to itself, yet they try their best to rationalize it. I tend to skip questions like that just because it doesn't make any sense to answer to something that doesn't make much sense to begin with. I do find it amusing, however, that they constantly claim "God loves the sinner but hates the sin" yet I haven't been able to find that anywhere in the Bible. You can't claim a God Loves all and is Perfect and Good and then spout such hate and expect people to believe that God is a Perfectly Good and Loving deity.

I guess since they've been raised in it, or have went to that path for one reason or another (usually because it appealed to one or more emotions) that they ignore the contradictory things and simply follow suit - rationalize it till it sounds good.

Actually...the "word of God" HAS been used as a justification to spread hate and bigotry throughout the history of Christianity (that's all I need to say, hopefully you know enough about history and/or current events to fill in the blanks.) And I know what you mean...I just can't WAIT to worship a god who would kill babies, and let men rape women, or would destroy the entire world...and then he sends his own son as a blood sacrifice...I just can't WAIT to worship a god that likes blood sacrifices...

Since when has religion EVER made any sense? It doesn't...apparently God loves the gay person, but doesn't love the way he made them...quaint isn't it?

It is most difficult to even think how one who loves evil so would deceive himself into believing there is a shred of truth in hate and bigotry. But there are many who believe they do God's work by doctrine and practice unknown to good. They are like the walking dead. Maybe years ago when the first zombie movies came out, there was a hidden agenda to that movement. :)

The "word of god" has always been used to spread hate and bigotry. Historically, it's been the primary vehicle of choice for such messages as it continues to be today.

People use that "word of god" line to justify that which they want to be true.

Christians have been commanded not to lie, steal, etc. They have been commanded to love their enemies. They have been told that re-marriage is the sin of adultery. Yet they pay no attention to those things and focus on homosexuality because it's the one "sin" that they don't commit.

Some people only know what they've been told. That's why I encourage everyone to research and KNOW what they believe and why. It's time all religions and their followers grew up and learned how to become world citizens.

If God is love and He/She created us all, why would He/She be happy if we start killing the other kids? I don't get the logic...

Of cours not, but neither should fitting in with society, and political correctness be used to supress others views of what is or is not sinful, especially when such sinful behavior has negative affects on society. My church never condones discrimination of homosexuals. Saying that homosexual sex is wrong is not discrimination.

IN a word, NO.

I cannot fathom the minds of most people any more - no do I want to any longer. Sometimes it's more peaceful to remain ignorant.
