OK, so most of you who answered my last question (at least so far) have admitted that you don't KNOW that there is no god, you can only claim to BELIEVE that there is no god.

Seriously, doesn't this actually make you an agnostic?
(Notice that I have corrected my spelling. Thank you, Secret Agent Man, for pointing out my error.)
Once again, I am braced for some mocking, but once again, all that proves to me is that you are insecure in your atheism. Mockery only makes you look childish, and absolutely nobody is impressed by it. If you do have real answers, I really and truly would like to hear them.

So, we see that in the end, mockery is pretty much all you have, with a very few notable exceptions.

Remarks about The Cat in the Hat, or elves watching television, or telling me to get a dictionary, or even accusing me of tap dancing are not answers.
To those who are giving me real, well thought out answers, I thank you. You are helping me to understand the atheist mind.

Please take the time to look at my responses to questions asked as I do not mock or give childish responses. I do not believe there is a God. I do believe in science, but I also understand that science is fallible.
At least scientists can admit that there have been mistaken theories in the past and will test new theories without blindly binding themselves to one and only one belief. I can't agree with a philosophy that will not follow the scientific method and admit when the theories don't add up. That is not mockery; that is only my firm belief.
If Christianity would follow accepted methods of reaching conclusions, then I would intently pay attention to their theories. The problem I have is when Christians, some not all, refuse to accept any science that in essence goes against their interpretation of the Bible.

No. If you do not believe in god then you are an atheist. I do not mean to be rude but you can simply use a dictionary to understand what you are asking about.
Agnostics believe god is unknowable. That implies that they are not atheist or theist. That is why most people are actually Agnostic atheists. You can be both. (I am a woman and an American. I can say one without the other and it is still true.)
No body truly knows if god exists or not. Just because atheists and agnostics are more open to admit it then theists does not mean they are unsure about their beliefs. Atheists do not need proof in order to NOT believe in something in which there is not proof. Make sense?

That's not being insecure, that's just stating that we do not know for sure. Just like...you don't KNOW if Creationism or evolution is correct, since you weren't there at the beginning, no one does, there may be evidence for either, but I have seen enough of science to know that just because there's a lot of evidence, doesn't mean it's right, there's some theories that have been busted with a lot of good evidence, but was disproved by other facts. I'm just saying that I don't BELIEVE in any god (hence, atheist) but I'm not saying there IS no god. That doesn't mean that we're insecure, just means we're open-minded to the possibility of there being a god.

Atheism/Agnosticism... does it really matter?
Believe what you believe and I will do the same. I will not chastise you for your ideas and I hope you have the same respect for mine.
Also, how does Not believing in a god make you agnostic? When it gets down to it, believing is the only choice one has -the existence of a higher power, at this point in time, cannot be proven or disproven.

If you don't consider this mocking, I'll answer by saying that I'm a tooth fairy agnostic. I can't be 100% sure that the toothfairy does not exist but that doesn't leave existence and non-existence at a 50% likelihood.
It's the same with the existence of God. I can't be 100% sure that God doesn't exist. But that doesn't put God's existence at a 50% likelihood.

I know there is no "God" in the sense "He" is described by the denizens of this little blue planet. Belief systems are as temporary as the living brain that thinks them. If you must believe in something, believe in your senses. Feeling good is better than feeling bad. I don't know if there is a teapot circling between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, and I don't know if there are little green men living inside a quark. To keep it simple, let's just say that if you made those claims (i.e., teapot, LGMs) I don't know for a fact that you're wrong but I believe you to be. If that makes me an agnostic, so be it. It's your label, not mine. You want to label an imaginary sky fairy as "God", be my guest. Your label, not mine, although mine is a bit more descriptively accurate. Thanks for the question.

I define atheism as the absence of belief in a god, and agnosticism is the belief that we cannot know there is a god.
Nobody really knows if there is a god or not. However, one can believe strongly one way or the other.
You should be wary of anyone who is 100% convinced either way. These people often lack critical thinking skills and are simply indoctrinated.

An agnostic would not express belief one way or the other.
I put the odds at their being a god about the same as I put that god being The Cat in the Hat. So if you want to say that I am an agnostic about the Cat in the Hat, go ahead if it helps you sleep at night. But you would be wrong.

well, that would make me agnostic for a lot of things wouldn't it? i don't know if only when i'm asleep elves aren't breaking into my house and watching the cartoon network. i recognize the high probability that they're probably not, so i just write off the possibility of that occurance as being so close to zero that it is zero. the same goes with god.

No. Agnostics believe that there may or may not be a God. Atheists believe that there is not a God. Of course, we can't know for certain. But that doesn't make us agnostics, any more than your not knowing for sure that there is a God makes you an agnostic.
Hope this helps.
