What? Hypocrisy in the church? Why, that's unheard of...

you need to try reading a Bible before you show just how much you don't know , The Bible say ," that money is the root of all kinds of evil." it's not the money that is evil . the evil is, what some people do with the money. some money is spent of evil and some money is spent for good . maybe the next time before you start bashing churches you will take a little time to get a clue about what you speak of . this is just another case of someone standing in the dark trying to tell the light what is what . will people ever understand that when they are in the dark it's hard to see what is going on.

That is a very good question and I would really love to know the answer to it. I think it's probably a bit unfair to say 'all' churches because I'm sure there are some out there that is more interested in the souls who attend rather than trying to compete with surrounding churches on who has the biggest building or the tallest steeple. I don't attend church where I live because of their focus on money. .

The love of money is NOT splitting hairs. There is a difference between having money and worshipping money.

It takes money to keep the church cleaned, heated, and cooled. It takes money to keep trhe church painted. It takes money to keep the lawn mowed. The pastor has a salary that must be paid.

Some of the money goes to keep supplies on hand for the poor and needy.

The bible does not say that money is the root of all evil. It says the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. And yes, there is a significant difference. (1 Timothy 6:10)

The love of money is the root of all evil----for where your heart lays, there also will be your God.
People that seek only this world's riches and give no heed to God will miss out on the riches of the afterlife.

The Rich Man and Lazarus

Luke 16:19 "There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In hell,[a] where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

25 "But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'

27 "He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

29 "Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'

30 " 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'

31 "He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

Money is not the root of all evil, pride is the root of all evil.
The rebellion of satan was not caused by money nor was the fall of Adam and Eve,it was pride the first sin.
Money becomes the cause of sin when it is loved and worshipped but it is not the root sin of Angels and Humanity.

This often-asked question owes its existence to a misunderstanding of the old Latin "Cupiditas radix malorum est," which translates into English as "Cupidity is the root of evil." Cupidity means "the excessive love of money."

I love this question! Because those great big fancy buildings and expensive preachers and priests cost money.

I serve for free.Rituals, handfastings, pasting overs, wiccanings. (weddings, funerals, baptisims.) As a service to my Goddess and community. I do not charge nor do I get paid. Our covenstead changes from home to home. Each member volunteers to hold ritual until finally one of my girls bought a really nice house and volunteered its use for us all.

Each of us donates the items or a couple of bucks for what we need for rituals, and we each bring a covered dish or dessert for our big meal after ritual.

We all help with set up and clean up afterwards.

I wear the title of Lady Aviana SnowWolfe proudly and I do not do it for monetary gain. I studied for years to achieve it. I hope I do it honor.

I hear that!

Most churches have their hands out because they are more of a corporation than a collection of believers.....

2 Corinthians 9:7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
