I did replace and attached my front plate after the police gave me a ticket/citation because I lost my front plate. Moreover, he told me that it will not cost a lot if I replace a new plate, I don't have to go to the court, I don't have to go to traffic school, there will not deduct the my point. within 2 months. After that, he asked me to call a phone no. which is from the alhambra superior court.
The description of the ticket is: 5200 (a)vc No Front Plate, Infraction.
I live in Alhambra, CA. Could anyone or who has the same experience tell me what shold I do now, who can correct this violation, and how much money will cost for the rest of procedure? (I've already spent 17 dollars to replace my plates.) I'll very appreciate your answer. Thank you very much!

thank you all! i really appreciate everyone's instant and valuable answers! i've already called the no. and the operator asked me to pay $122.00. "that's insane!" but i told him the police told me all i have to pay is $17 for replacing plates and $10 for sth. finally, he said i have to go to sheriff's station, ask a sheriff to inspect my front plate, and then go to the court to pay $10.
what the hell is that? he should tell me this instead of asking me to pay $122. by the way, thank you very much, thank you all~

If there were no other charges (i.e., had nothing to do with an accident, drugs, etc), and you are not a "repeat offender", and you show the judge or "fix-it" police official (refer to the link, below) a photo of the re-installed plate with appropriate tags/stickers and documentation, as applicable, then he may let you go with a warning or not. As for the cost, I have not been in a similar situation, but California allows communities a lot of leeway in deciding fines. The easiest thing to do is just to call the police or motor vehicle department and ask.

I had to pay the fine on the ticket when I got one last year - but I didn't have to go to court or the sherriff's station to "show 'em" that I'd fixed the violation. (But I received my ticket in West LA)

Call the number on the ticket and they'll tell you if you can get that ticket written off (like they used to do with fix-it tickets in the past) after replacing your plate. Or if you still have to pay the fine AND show up to get the inspection to show 'em you fixed it.

if you have replaced the plate the ticket should be dismissed as you have corrected the problem
