does he get a new soul after he becomes Robocop? I think he does, or he at least gets his old one back, because he begins to slowly show signs of humanity again.

As I think we are all aware, Peter Weller was born without a soul. So was Barbara Streisand.

Dude, it's Alex J. Murphy, not Peter Weller.

Peter Weller is an actor. Officer Alex J. Murphy was the cop.

lol, I've seen the movie about 250 thousand times.

We should research this a bit deeper.

By looking at the parts of him that were hit/killed/removed, we can start narrowing down the areas of the body which would contain the soul. Even his heart and brain took damage, so we can assume that if the soul exists in either of those organs, it isn't contained in the entire organ.

Since his signs of humanity took time to come back, one can deduce that his soul was damaged in the attack on him. Therefore our safest bet would be to look in the surviving areas directly around his wounds.

He must still have the old one.

Notice how he spins his gun, and scratches the back of his car in the exact same way before and after becoming Robocop. He also still has his old memories, they're just stored really far down.

I never thought about it,but I guess you're right. He missed his family and he showed compassion for some of the victims of the violence in the city. All I could think was-they were using really small bullets, because it seemed like they shot him 5,000 times.

I don't think the script ever addressed that issue.
