My sister and I both used to do it. Do not pay anyone that will give you a list. It's a rip off. Just watch your want ads and call when a legitimate one comes along. I also picked up some jobs on the internet but they wanted you to do an awful lot for a little money. Many ads don't want to pay you for your efforts so by the time you are through, you haven't even made minimum wage. Look them over carefully. And be careful who you give your info to. . .

I do it almost every weekend. You should never have to pay to sign up with a company. There are a lot of scams out there, so be careful.
Many people don't realize that after the shop, there's usually 1-2 hours worth of reports you'll have to fill out. Make sure you read your directions and the report questions BEFORE you go or you might miss something important and not get paid.

It's pretty basic, you get an assignment for me it was mostly fast food places. They send you paperwork, you have to fill it all out exactly as they ask, you pay for your food and then they reimburse you after you submit the paperwork within 4 weeks. It can be interesting sometimes but prepare to pay for any shopping experience up front out of your own pocket. You also must be really good at details.

My experience is that most of these companies claiming to pay you to shop for them are scams. Did you have to pay anything to get this assignment or to fill out forms? If yes,There's your answer.

I went with my girlfriend once to a secret shop, at the cactus club! It was a lot of fun, They would send her gift certificates in the mail then she had to go shop them write a full review then send it to them!
It was really neat but she had to go through a lot of reference checks and interviews to become one!
I think it's harder then they make it out to be.
