I don't think so. It is a sin in the Bible, and being envious can cause a LOT of troubles between people. I think, by instinct, we should all strive to be happy with who we are. There is nothing wrong with liking yourself.

No. I think that envy is something that can happen to people that don't have good self-control. I am not envious of anyone for any reason. I am happy with who I am and what I have. I don't want any more or any less. My life is what it is. If my life gets better, then I'm happy, but I certainly don't want what someone else has.
However...this is just ME.

i think it may be human nature for some people, but i dont ;think everyone is envious.
People often want what they can;t have because we live in such a commercial materialistic nation. When i travel to other parts of the world I don;t see the need for envy as much.

Not human nature... but it is a learned behavior that really isn't a big deal if it is in moderation... but if you get to the point that thats all you think about, you covet other peoples belongings so much that it turns you into a theif, then there is a problem.

No its not, it is learned behavior. More mental than instinct.
It called keeping up with the JONESES. There are some people that live by that code but most do not.
People like that were raised in households where envy was taught or learned.

I think it is, and that's one of the reasons why it's covered by one of the Ten Commandments. The grass is always greener on the other side and often we can't appreciate the things we do have. I wish it weren't that way, though, as envy can make a person EXTREMELY miserable!

Yes. It is one of many such negative attributes of our basic human nature. Hopefully, we grow and evolve and rise above our base natures and learn to deal with these things in ourselves in healthy productive ways through our lives.
Envy is usually born out of our own emptiness. If you fill your own life with good things, for instance, you have no reason to envy anybody anything.

Yes, it is man's nature to be envious, jealous, self centered, and a long list of unsavory traits. It's called a soul. Balance your soul and spirit and those nasty traits can be disciplined, but they are always a part of you.

It is animal nature. Humans, dogs ... don't know
about fish. It's important from an evolutionary
perspective since it informs us that someone else
has something we could have too.

The envy is a feeling, and human beings just can't help to feel the ways emotions come, either there are good or not.
