That's alot of miles but you would be surprised at how little milage affects the resale value of a Nissan. I have a '95 Nissan Maxima (same body style) with over 189,000 miles on it. I got it used at 184,000 miles six months ago, but I know Japanese cars are great for endurance.
It's especially important to keep up with regular maintenance on any car though, but soon enough an oxygen sensor or the knock sensor will go out. Don't let that frustrate you though. If you love your car, you'll see it through the bad, not matter how many miles are on it, although you should have your limits and know when to throw in the towel.
You should, however, consider getting a repair manual for it. I've saved alot of money changing things out myself. It's very easy to get persuaded to leave your car at the oil change place because they say there's a problem with something that they assume you know nothing about. It's less than $20 at Autozone or O'Reily's and you might even get it cheaper on ebay. Good luck!

I have a 2003 maxima with 142,000 miles on it so your not doing to bad considering its a 1999. As long as you keep up on its regular maintains you should be ok those engines can last you about 250,000 miles or more. After all you do have one of the top ten best engines in the world in your car. So just wait another year and half or so and you can get the new maxima that is suppose to be really nice.Well hope this helps

Your real worry should be the transmission. Be sure to have the fluid changed if it's an AT and don't beat on it if you have a manual tranny. ATs are very expensive to rebuild. You might even want to think of adding a tranny cooler if you can.
If you have kept up with oil changes, the engine you have should be fine. That engine (VQ series -- you have a VQ30DE) is rated as one of the 10 best engines by Ward's every year since it came into production in 1995.
Anything else might just be small things that happen on older rigs like starters, alternators, etc, going bad.

I drove 9,000 a year you are driving 18,000 a year. around 12,000 yr. is average. So are you already putting money aside toward the purchase of a new 2010 Maxima?
