Yes it is where we go if we do not accept Christ as our savior. The bible is very clear, Jesus says I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father but through Me.
For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that none should perish but all should have everlasing life.
Hell is the absence of God, I would never want to be without God.

Heaven and Hell are the words coined in every religion since the religion is meant for up-liftment of the people .Deep philosophy of divinity in all religiongs cannot be perceived by all common folks. So the temption of rewards and fear of punishment by God for one's own actions has been utilised for better running of society.Heaven and Hell are in this world. A rich man beomes a pauper. For him ,the agony he faces is like falling from heaven to hell. There cannot a seperate place like Heaven or hell as God is all mercyfull. This is only a mental perception-threat or otherwise..

Yes!

Is hell real? Studies show that over 90% of people in the world believe in a "heaven" while less than 50% believe in an eternal hell. According to the Bible, hell is most definitely real! The punishment of the wicked in hell is as never-ending as the bliss of the righteous in Heaven. The punishment of the wicked dead in hell is described throughout Scripture as "everlasting fire" (Matthew 25:41), "unquenchable fire" (Matthew 3:12), "shame and everlasting contempt" (Daniel 12:2), a place where "their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched" (Mark 9:44-49), a place of "torments" and "flame" (Luke 16:23,24), "everlasting destruction" (2 Thessalonians 1:9), a place of torment with "fire and brimstone" where "the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever" (Revelation 14:10,11), and a "lake of fire and brimstone" where the wicked are "tormented day and night forever and ever" (Revelation 20:10). Jesus Himself indicates that the punishment in hell itself is everlasting - not merely the smoke and flames (Matthew 25:46).

The wicked are forever subject to the fury and the wrath of God in hell. They consciously suffer shame and contempt and the assaults of an accusing conscience -- along with the fiery wrath of an offended deity -- for all of eternity. Even those in hell will acknowledge the perfect justice of God (Psalms 76:10). Those who are in the very real hell will know that their punishment is just and that they alone are to blame (Deuteronomy 32:3-5). Yes, hell is real. Yes, hell is a place of torment and punishment that lasts forever and ever, with no end! Praise God that through Jesus, we can escape this eternal fate (John 3:16,18,36).

Just answered this question. No I dont believe in Hell, its a concept invented by the christians via the bible. Im Wiccan, we believe that every human being has the capacity for good or evil, its whether you chose to act on it or not.

We follow the belief in Karmic debt and or the three fold law which states what ever you send out comes back to you times three, so three times good or three times bad is what you reap.

I personally believe that your life can be a living hell (I use this word for discription purposes only) on earth or a wonderful thing, it depends upon how you live it.

Blessings, light and love,
Aviana

i like to comment on things that have been over answered in all the most obvious ways.

i like to think about dark matter. what does that have to do with hell?

dark matter is pretty much undescribable, immeasurable, and I just read that it's pretty incorruptible. If it decays at all it will last longer than the universe is old.

it seems to affect everything in the universe with it's gravitational pull, if nothing else. there's more of it than there is nothing.

when I think about the universe I think of a huge mind that is constantly firing off new thoughts, and I feel like I'm one of those thoughts. like my mass, the energy that vibrates to the frequency of me, and everything around me is made up of the ongoing thoughts of the universe.

hell can be a hot plasma ball with a few cooling rocks orbiting around it, dependent upon the radiation from that plasma ball but forever threatened by the presence of it, threatening to consume all that it can suck into it's being for fuel.

then you come down to people level and think about how if you think poorly about yourself and see little value in your life, you kinda let things get you down. you eat poorly. why not? what does it matter, right? then your fuel is bad and your energy levels are low. your brain isn't getting stimulated. you become jaded and disinterested in things and people. you become unreliable. you don't smile. people avoid you. people assume the worst about you. you hate people and you hate working with people. you think the world is going to end because everyone else is feeding you garbage about how horrible life is because they aren't eating right, hate life and everything in it, and they believe we deserve it, that this universe is going to end and they can't see anything that's going to save us and we're doomed. you attract all these influences and it's a self propitiating machine of negativity. If there's any alternative you don't know it because it takes so much energy to try to think. You accept it. This is hell.

heaven, on the other hand. wow. i LIKE that concept. I'm going to think of heaven ALLLLLLL DAY!

The Bible states in many verses of the existence of hell and it's attributes so I believe, yes, there is a very real place called Hell. This verse states it very firmly how a person in hell will be totally miserable and not wish any of his friends or family to go there.
Luke 16:19-31 from the Bible

The Rich Man and Lazarus

19"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In hell,[c] where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

25 "But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'

27 "He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

29 "Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'

30 " 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'

31 "He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

Hell is very real; someone saying they don’t believe in it will not make it go away. That’s like standing on a beach just as a hurricane is about to hit and saying I don’t believe in hurricanes. These people need to wake up. Saying there is no hell, will not keep them from going there.

I both do and do not believe in 'Hell.' I think that there is a 'place' we would/could call 'Hell' but I prefer to think of it as being Purgatory ... think of the most 'wonderful summer' EVER with EVERYONE having fun, and doing wonderful things with God and the Angels. That is Heaven ... and Purgatory/Hell is where a person (bad, evil) must spend some time (like at summer school, with NO 'air conditioning' and all of the windows CLOSED but the 'wonderful noises' coming in) to learn what they didn't learn while alive in this universe. I am going to Heaven ... and so is everyone else, even those in Purgatory/Hell, eventually. I'll see you there!

Yes I do for the simple reason Jesus warns of it three times in Mark the 9th chapter.

The kingdom of heaven is "at hand", which is within reach.
The kingdom of hell is that which is just out of reach.
Both just states of mind, not addresses.
