Insurance goes with cars, not with drivers' If he was driving with your permission, he is covered. If you didn't give permission you aren't covered unless he was using the vehicle without your consent and then it *might* be covered, you'd have to ask your agent about that. But since you aren't going to report it stolen, it seems a moot point anyway. If you say you allowed him to borrow it, your insurance will pay for any damage he did, but you can count on your rates going up as a result.

If you have collision coverage - that will pay for the damage to your car. Your liability coverage should pay for damage that your boyfriend caused (up to your policy limit). If your policy limit is not enough to cover - then any policies your boyfriend has should come in. Be aware, that as the owner of the vehicle being driven - if the policies are not enough to cover all liability claims - that you (and your boyfriend) can be held personally liable.

Also be aware, that the adjuster will notify underwriting that your boyfriend was driving while intoxicated (don't lie to the adjuster -its gonna be on the police report so the adj will know anyway). There is a very good chance that your insurance company will invite you to go get insurance with another company. This is not punishment - this is because you have just increased in risk.

Well, I suggest you acquire some exactness in your speech. Did you authorize your (hopefully exBF) to drive your car or did he use it without your authorization?

Did you know that he had a drinking problem?

Exactly how much damage did you suffer --- you as the property owner may be liable for damages ---

If he drink, say good bye. And if you don't want to, even though you should, never and I mean never let him drive your car or when you are in your car or his! Unless of course, you have a death wish!

Unless he is specifically exculded from your policy your car should be covered under the collision policy. If he STOLE it it will be under comp.

The question you should be asking is: "Why is this jerk my boyfriend?"
