As with any NEW car, it will have its' problems. Make sure you get the extended warranty. Your monthly note has alot to do with your credit rating and how long you plan to finance. You can get a general idea at nissans' website. www.nissanusa.com Because you aren't over 25 yet, you can expect to pay for full coverage on this car between $160-$200 a month in insurance.

Currently, I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4 and I want some kind of cross over because the QX4 gets crap gas mileage (14/17) and takes premium.
I test drove a Rogue and I liked it quite a bit. I was considering an Element, but I like the Rogue much better. It is far quieter on the highway, drove much more like a car (handles better) and it feels more powerful.
The only similar rig I liked was the RAV4 V6 (WAY more power!), but the one I tested was a lot more expensive -- almost $30k vs. the $25k for the loaded Rogue. Other than the powerful engine in the RAV, I like the Rogue better, though.
I didn't buy a Rogue yet because they only had a couple of colors and I didn't like them (Iridium Graphite is kind of pink, and the orange is too much for me). I want to get a Gotham Grey or Black.
The Rogue I tested was the SL AWD with the premium package, so it had pretty much everything but leather. I didn't really care for the paddle shifters, but I liked the CVT transmission (no shifts) and I thought it was very quiet on the road. I LOVE the intelligent key, too. You can just have the key in your pocket and the doors will be unlocked and you can start the car. I am spoiled with HIDs, so I want to have those, too.
The same engine has been used in the Altima and Sentra for several years, so I felt the drivetrain should be fairly good. There might be other issues come up because it's a first ever production, but most things should be fixed before the standard warranty expires. Anything serious, they would likely have a recall and it would be fixed for free, anyway.
How much you should pay depends on the trim and features. If you don't live somewhere that gets snow, you don't really need AWD, so 2wd would do. Then, I would recommend the SL with the premium package because it has alloys, HID (xenon) headlights, intelligent key and a much better stereo.
If you get a 2wd SL with premium, it should run you around $23k, hopefully less.
Go to the nissan site and "build" one to price it out. If you work the sales people over, you should be able to pay a bit less. If you go to a dealer toward the end of the month, you can usually get better deals -- if you don't give in to their sales tactics. Everything will depend on your trade and stuff.
You should call your insurance agent for a quote. Just tell him/her you are thinking about buying a new car and tell them what it is (2008 Nissan Rogue) and ask what the insurance premium will be. It's a good idea to do this BEFORE you actually buy because sometimes the insurance is higher than expected.
You can also get a loan preapproved through your credit union, that will often be lower than the loan the company has (unless you qualify for some special they are having).

They list price for around 20 to 25 thousand. I think you should drive the entire range of nissan cars then buy what you want. I don't expect first year problems with Rogue but you never know?
