Golflectual called me one. He also went into one of my questions about tile and called me a freakin' Jesus freak ( that's o.k. I take that as a compliment). Although I did delete it . It had no business on my tile question.

I'm geussing he called me a spammer because I recommended a book. Is that not allowed? That would be silly. Most of these questions cannot really be answered in a few paragraphs and there are books that completely address them.

If you are NOT the author of the book and you are NOT a seller of that book or others, then you are NOT a spammer.

Sometimes, when someone answers one of my questions, and I see that their answer seems a bit "rote", I look into their profile and see if they used their same answer over & over to other questions. Usually, they will have links attached, also.

Here is the criteria I use for the definition of a SPAMMER:
1. They are NEW to YahooAnswers
2. Their answer seems rehearsed
3. They repeat the same link
4. They are selling an idea or product
5. Sometimes, they are not even vaguely answering the question.

If they meet that criteria, I will report them. If they are just a regular person who offers several different links and shows true interest in the Question, then they're ok in my eyes.

Guess you have to call the shots on it yourself.
I would not put you down as qualifying - by definition - a Spammer. In my opinion, that person who charged you with that was in error and may have held a grudge for some personal reason (which was most likely unfounded).

Ignore people who are just spouting off. If they begin charging you with untruthful things, then go to the Yahoo board and plead your case. Sorry you met up with a real louse!

A spammer is typically someone trying to promote or sell something in a forum which has nothing to do with merchandising or marketing. It would be like a fireman going to give a lecture on fire safety at a school, and then handing out discount coupons to his brother's pizza parlor before he left.

Recommending a book is not necessarily spamming, however, providing a link to a website where the book is sold could be considered spamming.

I don't know what a spammer is, but I do know there are all kinds of folks here on YA.......no matter what we say there seem to be others who hate us for it, I could say the orange is orange, and the lemon is yellow.......and there would be those who would disagree ! Go figure.........

It means you're trying to sell something in a place not meant for it. Like sending spam to a persons email. Its considered rude.

A spammer is someone who posts something that's either COMPLETELY off topic or pointless.
