Would you change your answer if I replaced Charity with Charitas?

You can't have one without the other.

The only way we are going to participate in the Kingdom of God (or "be saved," as my protestant brethren put it) is to love one another. That is charity. So it is the basis of salvation, no matter what the "faith only" people say.

He was more concerned with sanctifying his Father' name. Relating to all about God's Kingdom and the benefits it will bring to all mankind that call on the True God by His name.1 Chronicles 29:11,- Daniel 2:44,-Matthew 24:14, - John 17

Jesus preached mostly to the Jews, rarely did he deal with the Non-Jew (Gentile).

During Jesus earthly Ministry, Salvation was not made known yet. that is why the writing of Paul are very important for Christians.

Mat Mark, Luke and John, are called Gospels of the Kingdom. Maybe this is advanced study, but once you figure out what is what, Bible study gets much easier to understand.

The second is a response to the first.

The mission of Jesus was "to seek and to save that which was lost". Luke 19:10. That's salvation. It is given to us by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8) not by works lest any man should boast (Eph. 2:9).

In response to this salvation, our hearts are filled with love and gratitude and we have a desire to obey his commandments. "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." John 15:12.

In other words, thee is a qualitative change in the life of a person who is saved. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." (John 5:24). Note the present tense.

Charitas? I do not know exactly what you mean. It is also an encyclical of Pope Pius VI and sounds like a letter of grievance against the National Assembly of France in the 18th century.

Having Christian Charity for one another is a behavior trait that the Saved will happily exhibit.

It will be clear to those that have charity for the less fortunate of God's children that they are on the path to Salvation.

In all forms of scripture mentioning anything Jesus was supposed to have said - traditional or gnostic, Jesus is telling his followers HOW to gain salvation - how to go to God essentially. Charity is one of the things that is important as a follower of Jesus, it is one of the things that you need to do...take care of widows, orphans, be giving, be kind, share your wealth, your food, etc.

Also, to respond to another answerer above me - Jesus did care about salvation of others in the gnostic texts - it was just a very different means to get to God. His death didn't matter at all, it was the fact that people understood his "secret teachings" -understanding that the Kingdom was within them, etc. was how followers got to God.
Regardless of the different ways to gain salvation you can read about, charity, kindess, moral behavior, etc. is always essential to the lifestyle of a follower.

If you have salvation (pardon and peace and joy and love and light in the Holy Spirit through faith in the all-sufficient merits of Christ's infinite sacrifice) you automatically have charity for your fellowmen. You love God supremely and love your neighbours with no partiality.

Jesus's concern is with souls and 2 Peter 2:9

9) The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

coming to know Jesus as your personal savior you will want to resemble what and who Jesus was.

Luke 10:25-37

25) On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
26) "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"

27) He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'[a]; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b]"
28) "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

29) But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

30) In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.
31) 1A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.
32) So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33) But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.
34) He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him.
35) The next day he took out two silver coins[c] and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'

36) "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"

37) The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."
Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

If he was concerned with charity there would have been 13 homeless hungry people sitting at that table instead of his buds.

Jesus was consumed with doing the will of His Father, all else followed from this.

Interesting question - I am not Christain but in the Jewish religion they teach that charity is more important. If you are a good person the rest of the stuff will be taken care of.
