I was taught that today's clerical clothes evolved from what was worn in the middle ages to the clerical blacks and Roman collar that is worn now, and the color and the collar developed meaning over time.

The black signifies that the priest has "died to self" and the white collar signifies the light of Christ.

The white collar is also symbolic of a real "collar" -- a servant's collar - symbolic of the fact that a Priest, based on his receiving the Sacrament of Holy Orders, is a "slave for Christ".

The reason they were the Big Robes and gold is to build their members faith. RC is all about the PHYSICAL Status beads, persessions.

A true Christian Church is about the Spiritual. Looking for Spiritual meaning, reading the Bible. Seeking after an understanding of God's word. Not hiding it from the members. RC is a man-made religion made in 300AD by constantine.

The Bible condems clerical dress, it also says that Bishops MUST be a married man. If you read God's word, you will see that this church has NOTHING to do with God. (also if you read the daily newspapers and note the lawsuits)

Run, don't walk from them.

It is reminiscent of the collar of a slave. A catholic priest is entirely in the service of God.

Brian, if bishops MUST be married, then Paul and Jesus would not qualify.
