I will be taking my grandchildren out trick or treating, then I will come home and have a dumb supper with my family. Afterwards we will do Samhain ritual.

My major harvest-time festival is the Thesmophoria and that will take place about a week before then this year......

Since this was already my favorite holdiay before I discovered Samhain I am already decorating and preparing a fun time for the neighbor spawn.
After the trick or treats I plan to reflect quietly.. I may even perform a simple ritual.

Passing out candy for Halloween, taking grandkids trick or treating.. making my famous pumpkin soup, pan de muertos and some other goodies.. we'll leave food out for the spirits, reflect on the year past, divinations for the coming year.. all of the good stuff. I adore Samhain :)

Since our Winter Nights celebration is a week earlier than Samhain, I'll probably just be handing out treats to pirates and princesses.

Simple ritual...supper with my family....handing out candy....then tarot readings for the next year through out the evening until 3 a.m. I may go out to the local bar earlier in the evening to do some readings for some close friends before the other things too.

I have lived north of San Francisco off and on for many years, and I am finally going to the City for Halloween, Castro-Style. I am a hetero, somewhat square midwestern-type, but the gay district here is famous for their outrageous costumes, hard-core partying and just plain having fun. Soooo...have been wanting to see it firsthand for years now, and I am finally going to do it. Castro Halloween, SF style, is the most famous Halloween party this side of Rio---but, to honor you, my friend, I will set a place at the dinner table for my dear departed grandmother. Hope she shows up.
