Vic's Salve sounds funny but works may take a few week of applying it everyday.

you can try antifungal creams. which come in a natural herbal variety. theyre not as effective, and rely on repeated application at odd hours of the day which can be inconvenient
the tablets will work best. don't try any old fashioneed remedies as they will probably make the problem worse, and you will likely have to take the tablets anyway

Call 214-340-2563 and ask for Bill Coats. He has the only FDA registered Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Process in the world. His topical products are sterile, bacteriacidal, funguscidal and viruscidal. They are topically applied and will shock you with how well they work.
Natural first because any medication is going to end up in our water where you get to drink, bathe and eat it.

My grandfather used to do this............. Get a tub, or something big enough to stick your foot in....... Fill it up with hot water. As hot as you can stand it. Then pour in some EPSON SALT, mix it in the water for 5 seconds, and then let your foot soak in it, untill the water gets cold. then take out ur foot, dry it off, and clean up ur toenail with Alcohol and a cotton ball, and clean it good. Try for a few days, it should go away by the first time or two

I would ask your doctor for an alternative, but I suspect the pills will be the only thing that will actually cure it.
