Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections. That is exactly what you asked.

And, no, "tasty x", antibiotics are NOT used for viruses, which include cold and flu viruses.

Antibiotics are for infections, not viruses, a virus is like a cold, flu, any outside germ that you catch from other people, infections are anything minor thats getting major without treatment, ie a chest cold that turns nasty, gangrene, eye infections, etc etc...

if you wanna throw a sickie why not choose the old standard runny bum? tell them you cant leave the house because you are afraid of pooping yourself, nobody wants someone with the poops at work!

Antibiotics are not given to people for a viral infection. A virus will not be killed by antibiotics. Only bacterial infections are gotten rid of with antibiotics. Bacterial pneumonia, strep throat, and infected lacerations are types of things antibiotics are used for. NOT THE COMMON COLD

An antibiotic is used to counter germs rather than virus' bit a doctor will often prescribe antibiotics for a virus infection to avoid a patient catching some other illness while their resistance is low so really any common illness would do. Cold, flu, measles, possibly in your case nappy rash
