You don't say which version of Adobe Acrobat software you have. If you just have Adobe reader, then you can't do the conversion. You need Adobe Standard in order to be able to do that, which you have to purchase. If you have that version, and since converting from Word to pdf is considered a print function, choose File > Print (or Ctrl P), and where you select a printer, click on the arrow and choose Adobe pdf. That will actually create your pdf document (not print it).

Once installed, you can create a PDF file using Solid PDF Creator by printing to the Solid PDF Creator printer driver (Full Disclosure: I am an employee of the company that develops the program).
You can download the program at http://www.soliddocuments.com/products.htm?product=SolidPDFCreator

the Acrobat software you have is a reader, (unless you paid $400.00 for the complete package) you cannot create a PDF with it.
There are a number of PDF creater tools out there. One you can get for free that does a great job is StarOffice. It is available as a free download from Google, in their toolbox.
It also reads and writes word files very well.
Great replacement for all of us that don't want to shell out all that money for MS Office!

You don't need Adobe arcobat full version to make a PDF file from word.
You need to download PDF printer driver.
When you want to convert a word to pdf, select PRINT then choose PDF printer.
This will make a pdf file for you instead of printing.
Go to google and type free pdf printer driver. I use primopdf but there are many free drivers.

You can only do it with a real Acrobat software, the Acrobat Reader is simply for opening PDF files.

what you need to do is download a pdf printer, Nitro should be a free one. then all you do is print the document to that printer and it will ask you where you want to save it.
