if you were sentenced to jail at you're hearing do you go in right away or do you have some time before you go in, especially if you were out on bail prior to your court date?

Depends on the charge. If you are found guilty of murder you will probably be taken in to custody as soon as you are found guilty. If you are found guilty of having a very small amount of pot in your possession you will probably be scheduled for your jail time. You really should have this discussion with your lawyer if you are in this situation.

I agree with the first poster. Only you have the information you need - your attorney can tell you what will happen if you lose at trial.

Being out on bail will have no significance other then if you had been in jail awaiting trial, that would have counted towards your time served. If it is a minor charge, that can be relatively significant in reducing or even eliminating post-conviction time.

But it won't get you more or less time overall.

Depends on the crime, sentence and the judge. If he throws you in a jail for a few days, he might give you some time to get your affairs in order or schedule it for a weekend.

If you get life...you will be going straight to jail.
