I sleep with the bathroom light on every night and I am 39. There is nothing wrong with it. I am married and have 3 children all in their teens and my husband is home every night. I first started leaving the bathroom light on so the children go see if they woke up in the middle of the night needing to go to the bathroom. But before I started doing that I already slept with a nite light any way. It sounds like a lack of feeling secure. And if leaving the light on makes you feel safe then there is nothing wrong with that. If you want it to change then you need to find something else that will make you feel secure and safe. Good luck, best wishes.

I'm also 28 and have trouble sleeping in the dark. I've gotten a little bit better, but what i've done, is turn the lights out for as long as i can possibly stand it every night, and you'll notice with time, that is longer and longer, and keep a flashlight close at hand, so if you feel something is wrong you dont have to turn the light back on to know everything is ok. You can simply flip on the flashlight, do a quick check, and flashlight off, you dont have the light back on as a comfort, because you won't want to turn it back off.
More importantly though, what does it matter if you have a light on when you sleep, as long as you're ok with it. I mean, people do things for comfort all the time, a little light really isn't bad.

I'm the same age and if my man isn't sleeping with me, I find it hard to sleep good also. I usually fall asleep with the TV on, I know it's not the best, but it keeps my mind busy until I fall asleep. Sorry, not great advice, just the only thing that works for me. Good Luck.

my daughter is 23 and sleeps with a light on and the tv most nights. make sure you don't do anything that will stimulate your brain before you go to bed, like watch a scary show on tv or play a video game. do things that are relaxing, like meditation or reading a book.

I used to be fearful of the dark as you are & finally got over it in my early 30s. I would recommend getting a small night-light as a reasonable compromise/solution. Many people use them.
