found the solution:

Delete all files in the Windows/Temp directory (Click here for Vista, XP, 2000, NT)
1) Restart your computer.
2) Double-click the My Computer icon.
3) Double-click to open the following folders in order: C drive > Windows > Temp.
4) Select and delete all the files in the Temp folder.
5) While still in the Windows folder, look for a Temporary Internet Files folder.
6) Select and delete all the files from this folder also.
7) Restart the computer.
8) Empty the Recycle Bin.

Do a complete ScanDisk - (Click here for Vista, XP, 2000, NT) (even if it's a new hard drive). This includes scanning the data surfaces and checking the files and folders.
1) Click on the Start button > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > ScanDisk.
