My toshiba dvd player only plays cds but no picture for the dvd?

The toshiba dvd player plays cds well but when I put a dvd in, I get audio from the dvd but no picture. This is dvd player model SD-3950. Could anyone tell me what the problem is?

if you have connected by coaxial cable to your tv you might need a new one....if you are using rca connectors...try switching one of the audio cables for the video cable...if you get picture than replace all three ..if you do not my guess is that the unit is shot
