I believe in evolution. I also believe in God. Reading from some of the comments above and hearing a lot of arguments before, I know that a lot of creationists have a misunderstanding about evolution. No one has ever suggested that our ancestors were monkeys or apes. No one has ever suggested that a monkey or ape can ever "evolve" into a man. Monkey, apes, humans all diverged from a common ancestor, an animal that no longer exists. As time passes, all living animals move farther and farther away from their common ancestors. And in due time, whether it's because of environmental changes or through an act of God (which may not necessarily be exclusive of each other), the species in existence may slowly diverge into other species. This is something that occurs all the time, but happens at such a slow pace that may require tens or hundreds of thousands of years to see the smallest change. So if you're waiting to see your pet turn into something else and show it as evidence of evolution, don't hold your breath.

you know, it's sad to say that debating creationists is not easy, despite the fact that the evolution side has all the evidence.
the problem is that evolution (or any science for that matter) is not the easiest thing on the earth to understand and takes the intelligence/maturity of a highschooler at the minimum. the creationist easily use confusion, lies, diversion that a 5 year can understand such as, 'i've never seen a rock turn into a dog, have you?' or 'how do you know evolution happened if you haven't been around for a billion years?' etc.

actually I haven't dismissed that possibility. When God created Jesus he did some genetic modifications that were not seen by humans. Often considered what if God were tweaking genes as an extra dimensional being. He could let nature run its course some times and other times tinker with it. anyways a possibility I have considered. God did tell them to "replenish the earth." There have been mass extinctions and then booms of evolution which may or may not be natural but even then that doesn't dismiss tinkering by God. I very much think God is an extra dimensional being and seemingly farther beyond his creations as well. His ways are far beyond ours and if we presume to know them all then we are being presumptuous. Uh to you that mentioned the 6 days I have to say to you that to God a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day is recorded in the bible. Now what does that mean? It means to God time is not a constant. Hence prophecy and a knowledge of the future. The dimension of time to him is free rein. the alpha and omega the beginning and the end. Existing in all time in all space at once. So that 6 days could be a ratio

the evidence is so overwhelming for Creationists. Think of the argument from the Atheist side. They are arguing that their ancestors were monkeys! haha.
The Dog has been around a long time, and I still have yet to see one turn into anything else.
At a museum I saw a space rock, it said it was 10 Billion years old. Now THAT takes faith to believe some junk like that!
Scientist are over rated, they do not even know what holds atoms together, and they don't even understand why we sleep. I found the answer, and it is the funniest thing in the world they do not know why we don't sleep!
Science is facts, and scientist are liars if they make claims about something from 10 billion years ago. That is not science, they were not there, there is no evidence for that.
God's word is not just a theory, and has never been proven wrong.

I don't take sides on the issue, but have argued both. I used to be an evolutionist, and in the course of a debate, an old punk friend of mine who is practically a walking encyclopedia convinced me that I don't know jack, and neither does anybody else who claims to know more than the fact that they popped into this life at some point, they currently exist, and 2+2 equals 4.

Yes.
But it is irrelevant. You do believe or not believe based on the evidence. You interpret the evidence to obtain the result you desire. And in that, I am not much different. But I believe that the evidence against evolution is much better than you believe it is.
But even if God sent an emissary from heaven, even His only son, who healed the sick, raised the dead, and did miracles galore, you would still not believe it. I guarantee it.
Proof is not what you are looking for. Validation is what you seek.

There is no opposition. This is the biggest misunderstanding here; the idea that Creationists have enough credibility (any, for that matter) to be even considered by scientists.

I saw Kirk Cameron try that with a crockoduck.
A rational debate needs facts and creationists have no facts, they only have belief.

How ludicrous... it can't even happen.
How does someone who doesn't understand science debate with someone about science?
