cleanse, tone then moisturize Spots and blemishes plague most people at some point in their life - even Liz Hurley and John Malkovich have spot scars if you look closely. Zits are more prevalent during puberty (thanks to those raging hormones), but it's not uncommon to get spots when you're older. They happen when your pores get clogged with oil, sweat or grime, and they're more common in people who have naturally oily skin because the sebaceous glands, which produce the skin's natural lubricant (sebum), work harder, making it difficult to stop the pores from getting clogged. Take action * Know your skin type. This will help you to buy the right products - are you dry (prone to flakiness and a dull complexion), oily (shiny with open pores and prone to blemishes), combination (a bit of both) or normal (although there's no such thing!)? * Follow a 3-stage skincare routine. Cleanse, tone and moisturise, morning and night. Cleansing stops dirt, sweat, make-up and bacteria blocking your pores and causing blemishes. And toner (or just a splash of cold water) removes excess cleanser and tightens up your pores ready for moisturising. * Exfoliate once a week. Use a gentle exfoliator every week to slough away dead skins cells and help your pores breathe. * Use a medicated wash. These can help clear your skin by killing bacteria and reducing oiliness. There are also several creams and preparations you can buy to treat spots directly - go for the gentlest option first, anything too strong might make the inflammation worse. * Eat a well-balanced diet. It's a myth that chocolate and greasy foods cause spots, but eating well will make your skin healthier. Grab some fruit and veg and drink lots of toxin-flushing water. * See your doctor. If you have acne, your GP should be able to prescribe antibiotics and may also refer you to dermatologist. Visit the One Life: Health section for more info on acne and other skin conditions. nivia products are good by the way

you can get clearasil acne pads from walmart or something for like $5 and they work sooososososo good. First wash your face [i use st ives invigorating scrub] but just use face wash then use the pad then face lotion [i use stives face lotion]. Seriously your skin gets clearer in less than a week. In most places they'll have different kinds of clearasil. the blackhead fighting really does work for blackheads, but not too much for everything else. I dont remember what the light blue is called but it doesnt work that great. The dark blue [24/7] or something like that is my favorite and works reallyreally well.

Use a gentle soap like Dove. Then add moisturizer...I like Cetaphil...it disappears and won't feel greasy...about three times a week,,use a little alum mixed with water to close the pores and keep them small...you get it in the grocery store, with the spices....just put about a Tablespoon in a bottle of Spring water, or the one you drink the most ,,to use when you need it...pat it on clean skin with a cotton ball...before your moisturizer....do not wear makeup unless you have to, it will clog pores..
Try this for a couple of weeks and you will love the results..don't use toner,,it can be really strong on young skin. Don't use anything alcohol based on your face. Check the ingredients,,most toners have alcohol.
And most important,,,drink at least eight glasses of water a day and eat lots of fresh veggies and fruits. Skip fatty meats..eat a lot of fish, salmon, sardines,,mackerel are great for your skin,,omega 3 oils..and get eight hours of sleep. Don't eat sweets...and go easy on dairy products. With the exception of yogurt....get one with active bacteria in them...Activia is one...(probably spelled that wrong)..it keeps your tummy healthy which in turn makes your skin happy.

Hydrate well, eat lots of natural foods like fruit and veggies. Use a foaming facial cleanser because those leave no residue whereas the creams and bars do. Wash your face in the morning and if need be use a toner, like Dove, to moistureize all the dry parts and leave the areas prone to grease alone. If you get oily during the day oil blotting sheets or clean and clear powder help dry that up and leave you not shiny. Keeping some cleansing pads handy will help you if you are having a bad skin day. I actually keep a tub of stridex in my car just in case my skin gets oily and I don't have a place to wash it. Finally at night wash your face again. If you have any potential pimples use a spot treatment like persa-gel to dry out the blemish before it florishes.

Long pants, long-sleeved shirts, a winter parka with an oversized hood, gloves, and closed-toed shoes will hide just about any skin problem you have! Of course, it will be exceedingly hot in the summer, and may even get you arrested if you go through airport security like that, but, look at it this way: you'll have new jewelry to go with the zits! ;)
(yeah, I know . . . go ahead and give me the negative rating! I deserve it!)
