Proprietory means unique where no real substitute is available. Some combinations of vitamins, minerals and other ingredients may be so unique that you will not find equivalents in the market. They are proprietory. Branded medicines need not be proprietory since the same paracetamol may be sold under different brands.
Generic medicines are without brands and obviously cannot be propreietory.

It sounds like the generic names of medications rather than the brand names for which the price drops. However, generic brands uses different ingredients than the brand which oftentimes produces allergic reactions or not the desired reaction you want from the drug. So, sometimes cheaper is not better.
