This is for Christians and atheists. If you consider yourself to be one of the two, tell me which one and then briefly answer the question, "what type of person deserves kindness from me?"

No one deserves your kindness. You being kind is a personal choice. You are asking us to decide between two choices? One or the other? I believe Christians should be kind to everyone. Look up John 13:34, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another," and John 15:12, "I command you to love each other in the same way that I love you." What would Jesus do?

You do not say what your religious belief is. If an atheist, be as kind to someone as they are kind to you. Anyone can be an *** - it is up to you to turn the other cheek or not. Who throws the first stone?

I was an atheist, but found nothing wrong with Christian beliefs - I am now faithful.

Christian.

All people deserve love. However, loving someone may mean at any given time inflicting pain in them rather than kindness. For example, in the case with Hitler extending to him kindness would mean extending suffering to many others - the most loving thing in that case is to use the least amount of force that will render the person safe. Which is loving towards all involved but kind only to the people you save.

Christian, it is not a matter of who deserves kindness, you should show kindness to all. Who am I to determine who deserves whatever? If a person does not want your kindness or takes advantage of your kindness, then you have another situation to deal with. One should take care and apply wisdom and power, along with their love.

I am an atheist, and all people deserve kindness. I am also human, so not all of them get it

No one deserves kindness from me. No one "deserves" anything. This type of thinking is not part of my cosmology. I have decided to value other people's feelings because it makes me feel good.

Christian. All people should receive kindness from me, that is what I am taught by my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am not the judge of any and therefore am not worthy to say who does and does not deserve anything. That I am human and may not always succeed, Jesus knows and forgives.

Everyone deserves your kindness because you are a kind person. If you allow others to dictate your behavior, you lose your self. If you are unkind to people, they won't know why, they will think you are the jerk.
