I don't want my tax money to go to paying for them. To the ridiculous argument that no one would do the work - I say how about all of the inmates? Why not put them out there and make them work to earn their keep? Let them dig ditches and pick fruit - it doesn't bother my sensibilities at all.

The left wing liberal loonies see the immigrants as ignorant and potential Democrat voters.

Don't you know that you can't have inmates doing any work if they don't want to? That would be cruel and unusual punishment and earn the wrath of human rights groups everywhere, maybe even the United Nations.

As for hiring Americans to do that type of work, that is no good either. Seems those ingrates want a living wage and you can't threaten to send them back if they raise a fuss.

We have been paying for them since the 50s and no liberal or conservative administration has done anything about it except for token raids. I question the existence of the INS as they have not done their job and our tax dollars pay for their existence. They have always known which employers have multiple illegals employed. It is neither a liberal or conservative issue. It is an issue of all politicians being in bed with big business and big business should be footing the bill for deporting, building a wall and for border security. The sad thing is, in the end nothing will be done.

Who said that Liberals want people to come here illegally? No one wants illegal immigration. The reason it seems like Liberals are pro-illegal is because they are compassionate towards human beings who want a better life, but it doesn't mean that they want unrestricted immigration. Just keep the drug dealers and gang bangers out and let the ones who all they do is work stay. I don't think that building a wall and sending 12 million people back is the answer. I believe in some kind of middle ground and comprehensive solution.

I believe that it is all about the potential voters. The majority of Hispanics vote democratically so the more Hispanics that become legal, the more voters you get. I can't figure out why Bush is trying to aid the democrats by bringing in more voting Hispanics?

Who says liberals want illegals? I'm liberal and I am totally against illegal immigration and putting restrictions on legal immigration. So are all the other liberals I know.

All the ignorance on this board is proof that our educational system is not working. Such a shame.

The inmates? You mean our prison populace? But then who's going to make your license plates, roadside signs ( speed limit signs, stop signs, etc)? Those people already work. You must have been talking to some damn fool who thinks they just sit around all day watching television.

Because they are bleeding heart liberals. They have no concept of the damage this is doing to our nation. I totally agree with the idea of convict labor. It is the only way to make ends meet and an easy way to replace any illegals that think we need them.

They think one day the American government will make them rich enough, so they don't have to work, and only illgals will, for them, all paid for with the imaginary money the government makes, when no American citizen works?
Geez, if that isn't it, I DON'T know!

The inmates would do the work. Maybe not as fast but they'd be - forgive the truth - even more 'affordable'.
