That type of church is in error in holding that everyone else is lost, who do not believe in baptismal regeneration, as are also churches that minimize the importance and mode of baptism.

Baptism, which is to be by full immersion (Acts 8:36-39), as only that examples what it is supposed to typify (death and resurrection: Rm. 6), is not what saves a soul, nor does faith in one's baptism or the church that performed it, which is what many have, but it is supposed to be an expression of saving faith, like a "sinners prayer" in body language, and for some it can be a catalyst to bring forth such faith, like an altar call might.

(Acts 2:38) "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

And thus one's baptism can be the occasion of their conversion, when they do confess with their mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in their heart that God hath raised him from the dead (Rom 10:9). But for most it is an expression of faith already present, when they did so with their mouth, as did Cornelius and household in Acts 10.

(Acts 10:43-47) "To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins. {44} While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. {45} And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. {46} For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, {47} Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?"
