You are an alcoholic if you can't stop drinking, after one. Most alcoholics will drink until they run out of booze, or money, but want more. Some people are functioning alcoholics, they will always go to work, because they know they have to in order to have the money to drink. Once they get started drinkin, they will drink until they pass out. Drink is the most important thing in your life, and you don't want to go anywhere unless you can drink there.

Not necessarily. If you drink a lot of it or have an urge to drink ever couple of hours, then your an alcoholic. Here read this part taken from Wikipedia.org :
Alcoholism is a term with multiple and sometimes conflicting definitions. In common and historic usage, alcoholism refers to any condition that results in the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages despite the health problems and negative social consequences it causes. Medical definitions describe alcoholism as a disease which results in a persistent use of alcohol despite negative consequences. Alcoholism may also refer to a preoccupation with or compulsion toward the consumption of alcohol and/or an impaired ability to recognize the negative effects of excessive alcohol consumption. Although not all of these definitions specify current and on-going use of alcohol as a qualifier, some do, as well as remarking on the long-term effects of consistent, heavy alcohol use, including dependence and symptoms of withdrawal.
While the ingestion of alcohol is, by definition, necessary to develop alcoholism, the use of alcohol does not predict the development of alcoholism. The quantity, frequency and regularity of alcohol consumption required to develop alcoholism varies greatly from person to person. In addition, although the biological mechanisms underpinning alcoholism are uncertain, some risk factors, including social environment, emotional health and genetic predisposition, have been identified.

Naw, sounds to me like you are just human. If you need to drink all the time, if having that first taste of alcohol when you get off of work is all you think about, if you sneak out on your lunch break for a shot, if you can't stop after just one, those are the signs of an alcoholic.

Not necessarily. The determining factor is whether or not you can function without the alcohol. Even if you only have one or two drinks...can you get by without them? If your answer is no, then you have an issue with drinking. Talk with your physician or trusted family member or friend. Depression needs to be treated with healthy remedies, not alcohol.
PS: you don't have to be drunk to be considered an alcoholic.

no. drinking usually makes you feel less depressed, why wouldnt you want to do something that made you feel better? thats not being an alcoholic. its only a problem if you feel like you need it all of the time.

Lots of folks suffering from depression self-medicate with alcohol, and are often mis-diagnosed as alcoholic. If depression is getting the better of you, get it checked out.
