Sounds like you wanted a deeper relationship that what he did. It's hard when those we love reject us or don't seem to really care as much as we do for the relationship!

From my understanding, dreams are subconscious thoughts. Maybe it means that you subconsciously think that you never really listened or were attentive to his needs, or that you never gave him a chance to tell you how he felt in general or about a specific thing. I’m just taking shots in the dark here.
