I am making hamburger patties, gravy, corn, homemade biscuits, I don't have any potatoes for mashed potatoes. Does anyone know a good side instead of mashed potatoes to go with this meal? I am making this for dinner tonight and I don't know what else to use. I was thinking of some kind of pasta but that just seems to nice for this southern meal?

All these carb conscious people!! Add some buttered noodles cook a package of egg noodles(or whatever kind of noodles you have on hand) add 1/2 cup melted butter and toss. Serve the hamburger patties on top of the cooked noodles.

I agree that you have the makings for biscuits and gravy. That solves the problem of what to do with the gravy. Then for another side, how about a simple green salad? That rounds out the meal nicely.

(Throw some of that cooking in my general direction, it sounds great!)

I don't think you need another carb side..you have the biscuits. I was always taught a great meal has a protien, a veggie, a carb. You have the meat, biscuits and corn. I'd have a tossed salad or maybe jello salad..but theres no need for biscuits AND potatoes. Too much starch.

Baked Beans...just use the size can you want of Van Camps pork 'n beans...add a little finely chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, salt/pepper, small squirt regular mustard, small squirt ketchup, dash of Worcestershire, and a little brown sugar (small hand full). Bake at 350 until hot and bubbly (30 minutes or so).

Sara, you already have biscuits & gravy. I really don't think you need to add more carbs to the meal. Sounds fine to me the way it is.

What about rice? You can even put gravy on it if you're so inclined?
