It is the same as a purity ring and symbolizes your commitment to wait until marriage to have sex. Here are links where you can buy one.

Never heard of an "Abstinence ring", just the stuff I've read about purity rings has given me the willies. I'm not against waiting until marriage but the whole ceremony and ring seem to be nearly as bad as a chastity belt.

It's a Christian-affiliated object, typically with youths. Youths wear these as a symbol of their "sexual purity and virginal abstinence before marriage" as well as somehow tying this into their faith to God.
Abstinence rings are the same things as purity rings.

Well They both mean that you have made a promise to be abstinent until you are married! So they are the same thing and have a great meaning.

abstinence ring is promising that you will remain a virgin. and a promise ring is a promise to a person. like an engagement ring, but not promising marriage, it is like the first step to that

They are all the same thing really. It is promising to refrain from having sex or any sexual activity until you are married. Sometimes they are given to a daughter by a father and the daughter is kept accountable by the parents. You can learn more about it through the sites I have below.

i got a "promise ring" when i turned 16. there is no difference when i comes to the meaning. just different names for the rings. they all make a promise to keep your virginity until you are married to the man or woman God has ordained you to be with.

my parents gave me the ring on my 16th birthday. it symbolizes the promise i made to God, my self and my family.

This website suggest that those young people who take the abstinence pledge are more likely to engage in oral and anal sex.
