How important is "base curve" in a contact lense. I am trying to buy some contact lenses on online and it is only offering a base curve of 8.3.
When I usually order contact lenses, I buy it with a base curve of 8.7.
If I decide to buy the lenses with the base curve of 8.3-does it make much of a difference?

Thanks...

the base curve of 8.3 is too steep, and it would be too tight for you.So your eye will feel uncomfortable or may be will cause redness, and your vision will be affected. So please purchase a contact lens which is suitable to your eye, not only in power, but also in fitting and water content.may be it was not much difference for some ppl, but it is very important.

Yes, it will make a world of difference. If the store doesn't offer 8.7, it's a shady, cheap store. Try another one (ClearlyContacts is inexpensive and has a great selection+fast shipping, I've been ordering there for over a year now). This is your eyes we're talking about - don't take any chances or "maybe's", get what was prescribed to avoid discomfort and potential damage to the eyes.

The base curve should play a very important role. I am not sure what lens you are trying to purchase, but maybe the site you are trying to buy from does not carry them in stock. I would look around at other sites. Contact Lens King http://www.contactlensking.com is very competitively priced. Do some research yourself and you will see that their prices are hard to beat.
Good luck.

i've got used ReNu No-Rub and the AMO finished Moisture Plus No-Rub that I have been given from the Optometrist's place of work. and that i rub (I first started wearing contacts in 1980, so this is habit). yet I honestly have very delicate eyes, so even although those recommendations say no rinsing is needed, I constantly rinse with Bausch & Lomb delicate Eyes PLUS saline.

It may not, but I'd stick with what was prescribed or as close to it as possible. A few degress different can make a big difference as far as that goes, wheather it be glasses or contacts.
