i just bought a canon SD750. the sales man talked me into buying it, saying IS isn't really needed at a low light concert. it's more for sports shots. he told me all i really need to to turn up the ISO, and use the fireworks scene. is he mistaken or am i just being too skepitcal? i have a feeling i made the wrong decision.

Take it back and deposit it in the salesman's ***. He is a poor excuse for a salesperson. Image Stabilization is always good to have, especially with longer lenses.

Another thing he omitted was this: If you get caught with a camera at a concert, your camera may be confiscated (they take it away from you) and you may never see it again.

The reality is that its unlikely you'll get any decent images in low light with a digicam, regardless of the ISO you use - and yours only goes to ISO 1600.
