And can you think of how it will not?

Most certainly, if our standards remain high. We offer the best wage for absolutely the best opportunity in the world. It's not easy becoming an US citizen and rightly so. We want only the best of what the world has to offer.

We know what happens when you let the riff-raff of any old country enter our nation. Look at what we have now! We are going to have to purge our society and it is going to be a wrenching experience for which we have only ourselves to blame. We cannot and should not lower our standards ever again.

America has grown soft, its young no longer choose to serve the military to defend their country. Yet they speak of their great patriotism to the country, America is graying the population is older, their 1.6 children per couple has caught up to them. There will not be enough workers to support the retired by Social Security deductions. The dollar is on a worldwide slide. American business sees no future in the American work force. We say buy American, Do you drive a Japanese car, do you buy American made products, Look around your house at all the made in China/ somewhere else labels. You are the problem.!!
The Dream Act will have an immigrant Army defend you and The labor force of 12 million workers contributing to the retirement of this country elderly.
Yes ! in this 21st century we are attracting hardworking, intelligent immigrants.

Excellent question (I want to see more Qs like this)

What do you mean? eg scientist or IT?
I would say regrettably fewer will come

Right now we have many 'repulsive factors', such as post 911 security and complex H1B visa requirements, anti-popularity of the current president (Irak war, Kyoto refusal, etc), and excessive outsourcing (eg some IT jobs go to India) but these factors may change
For sure we see that America is becoming more 'brown'
America looks less like the attractive cow-boy land and more like the 3rd world, from excessive uncontrolled immigration, typically illegal Mexican immigration and assocated anchor children. This is a turn-off for many newer immigrants typically from rich countries.
My advice: make a big dent in the 12M illegals, this will not only make America more appealing to its own residents but also more appealing to new skilled intelligent foreign immigrants.

Were not getting any smart ones now. How many Mexican doctors do you know who sneak across a border? Zero. Its the people that are living in poverty or are basically criminals that come here. Better life? Maybe for them but to the rest of the country, its devastating. I don't want our country turned into a third world nation like Mexico. Its there problem not ours and that's why we need to deport and close the borders.

Unless someone wants to better their life by waiting in line, getting a job, and paying taxes, they have no right coming here illegally. The American people consider illegal aliens a problem because they look around their once beautiful homes and cities and see whats really happening. Cheap Spanish grocery stores, gangs, drugs, no one speaking English, property values getting ruined, people losing jobs, crime rates sky rocketing. Regardless of what pro illegals will say, it did not start because we as a nation hate the Spanish, particularly the Mexicans. It started because the result of this mass illegal immigration is taking a toll on the American citizen, most particularly, the lower-middle class citizens. Who also work very very very hard. Tired of people saying Americans are lazy, we're not we are just smarter.

Any illegal alien who enters this country is not intelligent in my book they are a criminal who has no respect for our nation or its laws. Amen.

Leave a country to live in the next totalitarianism fascist state superpower of the world ? Not for me, thank you very much.

America is not fascist. USA is. You stole the name America to the other 39 nations that form it to do horrible things with it by your daily propaganda. We have to get a new name for the continent. You can keep America, you stained it already.

An angry Canadian.

As there is a waiting list for legal immigrants from all countries, I'd say yes. Our problem is in getting rid of all the uneducated illegals that flood into the country willy-nilly. We should probably deal with them as quickly and harshly as possible and open up more opportunities for the intelligent and educated and MOST IMPORTANTLY legal immigrants.

We don't even have the opportunity to "attract" anybody anymore. We have people invading our country illegally by the millions, many of whom are uneducated, illiterate, and unskilled, basically the outcasts of their country.

Does it really matter who we allow to legally immigrate into the country?? The illegal aliens will soon outnumber them anyway!!!
