It shouldn't be. But did you ever hear that old saying "The tragedy is not the loudness of the bad people. The real tragedy is the silence of the good people."
I know way too many good people -- nonfundamentalists Christians, atheist, agnostics, free thinkers -- who are apathetic and don't vote.
That's a tragedy, because then we end up with complete idiots for president like Dubya.

did u know that seventh-day adventists have been predicting for over one hundred years that according to chapter 13 of the book of Revelation, the time is coming in the US when the Constitution will be amended to allow church and state to be united again as to enforce religious decrees upon all... for example, they believe that all will be forced to pay homage to Sunday as the day of worship and dissenters will no longer be able to buy or sell and finally a death decree will be enacted against them... it will be the end of all religious freedom as we have known it for the last 200 years! What do u think of this prediction? Do we not see the beginnings of this movement in the US especially since Bush has been elected president?

Not enough people would vote for an atheist to get them elected to the white house.
I guess people have a tendency to vote with blinders on.
When I go to the polls to vote....you better believe that a candidates religious beliefs effect my vote.
If a candidate believes in fairy tales...how do you think that's gonna effect the way they run the country?
Maybe if we had a president that didnt' believe in heaven, just maybe that president would be a bit less willing to attempt to send our troops there.

Are you running anytime soon?
Do you think some people would vote for a candidate JUST because He/she wasn't religious?
Don't you think the person ought to be a good candidate for President, or would you vote for an atheist/agnostic JUST because of the lack of faith/belief in God?

It would be easy to get someone like that to run for office.
Unfortunately, it would be next to impossible to get them to win. I think an atheist President of the United States is, sadly, about 100 years away.

Hi, Cody:
I saw a survey once that noted that only 80% of the populace claim to be devout, yet 98% of the politicians did. Who would you believe? I think the 2% were honest and not pretending in order to get votes.
One thing you need realize, that no one can save us and politicians are helpless as our world spirals to Armageddon's climax.
Even scientists know we can not solve the unsolvable, and earth is to soon extenguish.
There is a Bible code that tells of this and the timing of the Cosmic Conflict. See: http://abiblecode.tripod.com

Per the Constitution: "religious preference" cannot be used as a litmus test to hold any public office nor should it be used.
Freedom OF Religion NOT Freedom FROM Religion.

impossible to get an atheist elected.....especially with popular vote, but if the popular vote went to a complete moron, the electoral college, might envoke an atheist on their own...maybe...
