Yes. School taxes are paid by all persons who own real estate in the school district, including businesses and persons without any children.

Legally, having children in public school, or having them at all, has NOTHING to do with property tax or any other tax to support public schools. I personally believe if the ABOLISHED the taxes that are supposed to support public schools, 99% of parents could afford private schools. Some will mention renters that 'don't pay' property tax. That is BALONEY. The landlord may write the check, but you can be assured that the tenant pays the tax.

Yes of course, if you own property that is subject to school tax. It's your choice to send your child to a private school. Many people pay school taxes that don't currently have kids in school - look around.

Unfortunately yes. Just because your jurisdiction collects a property tax called "school tax" has nothing to do with your own children being in school; it is basically a property tax that is assigned directly for school districts. You probably also get a property tax bill which is much smaller. So take them and use them on your Schedule A for itemized deductions.

Notice the "taxes" part of your question. It is taxes, not school tuition that you have to pay. You would have to pay school taxes even if you had no children.

You'd pay school taxes even if you didn't have any children. I don't have any school aged children any more, but I damn sure do pay property taxes.

Yes you do, and you should. Just because you can afford to send your child to a private school doesn't mean your neighbors can.
