I will answer my own question, I miss that in Turkey they don't seat single women next to men on buses, I wish airplanes were the same!

It was an American man who caused the offense, and it was do to his size and the overflowing into my seat that cause me the discomfort.

Hey ladies, what's wrong with sitting (not seating) next to me on the bus or the plane??? Personally I would be delighted to sit next to one of you during a trip.
Anyway, I am away from Turkey (being a Cypriot) and there are lots of things that I miss about Turkey.
1- Baklava and all the other Turkish sweets.
2- The variety of food (not too hot)
3- Everyone calling me 'abi', 'beyefendi',
4- Shopping - sale all the time, bargaining all the time, cheap prices all the time, good quality clothing all the time :)
5- The smell of spices and herbs in Sakarya Cad. Ankara, and Misirçarşisi Istanbul mmmmmmm
6- Pastirma - the best
7- The rise of adrenalin when riding in a taxi lol
8- Kizilay in Ankara, Taksim/Beyoglu in Istanbul
9- Not having to prepare breakfast or cook (coz I stay in hotels)
10- Those girls with beautiful eyes at Karadeniz
11- The jokes of the men at Karadeniz
12- The insolent taxi drivers in Istanbul (some, not all)
13- The philosopher taxi drivers in Istanbul :)
14- Kebaps mmmmmmmm (esp. doner kebap/iskender)
15- Haci Baba Baklava (did I mention baklava?)
16- The nostalgic feeling of waiting for someone in front of Gima.
17- Feeling an outsider in Istanbul, and trying not to show it :)
18- Looking desperately for a taxi with my hands full of shopping bags in Istanbul.
19- The relief of arriving at the hotel.
20- The agony of trying to fit everything in the suitcase and handbags.
21- The VIP lounges of Isbank and HSBC at Ataturk Int. Airport.
22- The sweet smiles of airport ladies.
23- Buying cheap duty free cigarettes on arrival at Ercan Airport.
24- Missing Turkey already, as soon as I arrive back in Cyprus.

Rakı table and muhabbet. The seagulls. That sound as wind blows through the plane trees, I don't think I heard it somewhere else. Crossing the bridge on my motorcycle, ordering a tea while taking a ferry ride. The apocalyptical chaos of the crowd in istiklal. Chatting with my colleagues at the office. Going out, seeing my friends. There is a lot more but I just don't have the time.

I don't mind seating next to men, as long as they are civilised. I don't think Turkish men are so bad that you wouldn't want to sit next to them, though! Anyway, what I miss from Turkey is the food. But luckily we have a branch of teh restaurant Pandeli, a famous restaurant on top of the spice market in Istanbul, so when i miss it too much i go there!

The feeling of really being home and not being lonely. I miss my relatives, the atmosphere, the weather and looking at the black sea from my house. I was born and raised in Europe, but I belong in Turkey. I miss everything that's Turkish.

I miss the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables at super cheap prices. I live in America now and it pains me to pay $1 for one green pepper.

I also miss what I call the 'Turkish telephone' (it's a term of endearment, really). When one neighbor chats with another out their window or a child yells, "Anne!!!!" up from the street.

At a neighbors house, I miss being guilted into staying 30 more minutes after I really needed to leave two hours ago.

Other things that come to mind are the kisses on the cheek, leaving your shoes outside when you enter a house, guys with simit on their heads yelling "Sicak, sicak." I also like that people watch out for each other and there is a sense of honor.

(Thanks for the question, it got me remembering some really sweet memories.)

I miss everything but specially the joy.
Seeing everywhere open even on sundays until 10.00 at night while in most of the European countries there is no activity after 6 o'clock.
I miss waking up with the voice of seagulls and the sea and vapours and dolmus.
And hairdressers...
