I've always had trouble going to the bathroom and very rarely get bowel movement. Can anyone suggest some easy ways to help or foods to avoid ect.
I am an exchange student so I don't have that much control over my diet no matter how hard I try to eat lots of vegtebles, my host-family eat a lot of potatoes and bread. I don't want to tell them about my problem, so what are some inconspicouss things I can do to help me go on a regular basis? And what should I do when I am constipated? Thank you for any advice.

What country are you staying in?

If you are in the USA, go to a GNC store or SuperSupplements and ask for fiber supplementation. These tablets or powders that mix in with juice give your bowel more "bulk" and pushes your meals through more quickly.

If you've been in your host country only a short time, your body is probabbly still getting used to its new environment.

But you really don't want this "solid waste disposal" problem to go on too long, otherwise other uglier, nastier and health endangering problems can develop.

Don't be afraid to tell your host family you are having problems. When they signed up to be a host family I am sure they were coached about some of the problems the exchange students might encounter.

People from modern western European countries will have odd symptoms when they move to the USA. There are minor differences your body will notice and react to. Be glad you are not like a man I once knew who moved from Germany to California. For several months after moving to the USA he had nasty boils on his back! His skin did not like something in the water he bathed in! As he grew accustomed to the water his skin calmed down and the boils went away.

You are in Germany. Find a nutritional supplement store like GNC or SuperSupplements and you can get those products there. You can find high fiber breakfast cereals in the German supermarkets. Some North American brands are also found in Europe.

Try posting your question in German to the YA Germany boards.

If your able to go to a drugstore or something similar. Try some type of fiber pills that you take with water . Or you can try some benefiber (that is a powder) that you can place in your food or water. I've never tried the benefiber but I do take the fiber pills twice a week cause I don't want my body to get addicted to them.

He could be having a bm a million popular commonly as quickly as his gadget gets used to the formulation. And sure it type of feels that formulation could make his extra gassy and stinky- my daughter can outdo my husband some days. I have heard good reports of Bowtrol. You take capsules before you go to bed and you get a bowel movement in the morning. They have a distribution service in Europe where you can get them within a few days. Try it - I hope it works!

Drink plenty of water. Why don't you buy fruit (bags of apples or oranges) to share with the family. They will think it a gift and you can eat it also. Doctors recommend "Metamucil" it is a fiber you stir up in water and drink down.
