We don't know if we should get another male or get a female. Also, should we get one about the same age? Should we wait to bring another kitten into the home? Thanks!

a kitten his age will adapt to just about any other animal or cat.. You could get male or female, any age.. I just always reccomend that people not pair an adult cat with a strange adult cat.. Kitten with kitten works GREAT, and cat with kitten works fine. Cat and strange cat don't work well..

I agree you should get a buddy for the kitten....How about rescuing an adult who needs a home? everyone wants the cute little kittens... Keep in mind the initial vet fees are expensive, so you may want to wait until you've recovered from all that initial expenses from the first one..

I would also reccomend waiting anther week or two, give the little guy a chance to get used to his new home before you throw a strange cat into the quasion..

Similar age is best if you want them to be buddies. As for male or female, I think it'll be hit or miss and will depend on the personalities of the cats just like with people.

I've only ever had males. When I had two of similar age, they got along. Not the best of friends, but they got along. Played together, groomed each other, slept together, etc.

Now I have two where one is 10 and the other is almost 4. They really don't get along at all. The younger one wants to play. The other one doesn't want to be bothered. They pretty much ignore each other. I got the 4 yr old after the other one's companion died. Turns out the 10yr old would have been happier as an only cat.

So my thought is unless you get two who are already companions, it'll be hit or miss when you add another.

Male or female doesn't matter, female may be better but 2 males also get along if they are together from a young age. Just make sure they both get neutered either way.
Similar age is recommended, and the soonest you bring them together the better, before the kitten decides he is master of the house and likes to be alone there.

Hmmm, 2-a million/2 months is amazingly almost 11 weeks, you comprehend, so this is no longer an age element. The kitten you have had longer is mad on the intruder. he will the two recover from it, or they're going to artwork out territories interior of your place. If there are 2 people there, that's extremely useful to each enable a kitten undertake you.

Try to get one at a similar age. Male or female will do just fine, as long as they're both spayed/neutered.

I've owned 2 males & 1 female at the same time, and the female was independent, while the two males were inseparable.

I have 2 brothers and they are inseperable. I asked on Yahoo about wether to get 2 male or male female, and most people said 2 males. So i did, and they are so cute together, they do everything together. You wont regret it. Get the other 1 at a similar age, as close as you can, then your kittie will almost certainly accept the new one.
