I had took my daughter to a specialist when she was about 1 1/2 and they didn't see her walk on her tippy toes so they assumed she didn't. But now she won't stay off them and she's two and a half. Should I video tape her doing it to prove to them that she does? They said she would out grow it but I don't think shes going to. What should I do?

She will outgrow it. I did, I walked on my toes until I was four years old, and had to put shoes on for school. If you do not feel you trust your Dr's opinion then get another one. Good luck

A woman I know had the same expereince. Her daughter walked on her tip-toes for a long time and the doctor's kept saying she would grow out of it. In time she did.

That daughter has since had children of her own. One of those children walked on her tip-toes for years and the doctors kept saying she would grow out of it. At one point they put her legs in casts to try to get her to walk normally. By about age eight, she was still doing this so they got more opinions and had tests run. It turns out that this girl has Muscular Dystrophy.

I don't want to alarm you because two and a half is still fairly young. But, don't just let it go. Bring it up at every visit to her pediatrician.

It isn't anything bad. But depending on the child sometimes they do grow out of it somethime they dont. I have seen someone still in middle school walking on there tippy toes. But I woundn't worry about it. I have a little sister that turns 2 on dec. 26 and she does the same thing and it kind of rubbed off on me b/c sometimes now i tend to stand or walk on my tippy toes.

My nephew is two one and he walks on his tippy toes all the time. I really think that he gets it from his father, who also walks on the tip of his toes all day long. I don't think that he'll grow out of it since his father does it. She might grow out of it and she might not. More than likely, she will though.

I walked on my tiptoes up until i was like 14 i think. I dont think it was anything different i was just teased a lil for walking and running "gracefully" i think i still do it once in a while when i forget but it doesnt really bother me. I dont think there is much to worry about but if you really want you can video tape her or you can ask her to run and you will most likely see her run n her tip toes

No, don't go to another doctor, trust him, it's a matter of time, try to call her from a distance for something she likes, in a picnic for example for her favourite toy, then she will run towards you happily forgetting her tiptoe
make her jump in a play, you jump before her in a game, think other games honey, the solution is in your hand.

I don't think you need to see another Dr. all three of my kids did this and they stopped, my neice did it too. I am sure it is pretty normal. I wouldn't worry.

Get another opinion if you choose, but this is not unusual for a child at this age. They do outgrow it.
