cost of tapes? you think tapes are more expensive than hard drives?? tapes allow you to archive your trip for years to come, not just a one off playback. I often shoot many hours of video on a trip. you better find out what the storage on the HDD is and also image quality at that storage rate. You can buy a tape at Kmart if you run out, too bad if the drive fills up.

HiDef? you mean Very High Compression. you could be very dissappointed on how moving subjects and camera motion are recorded. My suggestion if you need 16:9 pictures is to go with HDV which is based on miniDV tape, and supports a data rate comparable to that used for digital HD television.

your question sounds like it comes from a spoiled brat who expects to get what they choose in the event that they only yell loud and long sufficient. wager what. no person cares in case you get your fashionable toy. you decide on professional basically, yet no longer miniDV. mmm. it style of feels the only miniDV cameras made at present are the pro fashions. Canon does make professional miniDV yet they do no longer seem to be the consumer fashions you point out. so in case you do no longer choose shopper, why are you paying for for them? Sony, Panasonic and JVC have broadcast/expert divisions on your desires that are break free their shopper enterprise. get out your wallet or supply up whining. as to HDD, i can recommend basically one and that's shopper yet with professional attributes like 3 CCD, intense archives cost MPEG2 codec, HDV emulation, mic in, headphone out, firewire. seem for the JVC GZ HD6 used on eBay for $seven-hundred in case you sense fortunate.
